Steps to SLI Homeownership

Welcome!
Welcome to the Silver Lake Institute! (SLI) This 40-acre neighborhood with 190 cottages and 3 shared, historic, community buildings was established in 1872.

Approval of cottage sales:
Our SLI Board of Trustees manage our Restricted Deed community like a condominium association. All property sales/transfers must be approved by our SLI Board of Trustees.

Don’t purchase with the intent to rent:
Rentals, either short or long term or Airbnb-type, require pre-approval and are strongly discouraged. Our SLI Board of Trustees has limited the number of homes that can be rented in SLI, and we have already reached that limit.

YOUR STEPS:

  1. Become familiar with our Handbook and Bylaws. Click HERE.
  1. Upon the seller’s acceptance of your offer, but before the closing, submit your request for approval to our SLI Board of Trustees. Your request should contain at least the following:
  • Buyer’s full name(s) and contact information
  • Buyer’s attorney’s contact information
  • Seller’s full name(s)
  • SLI property address
  • Planned closing date
  • The property’s current instrument survey must also be provided.
  1. Mail all to the SLI Registrar, PO Box 20, Silver Lake, NY 14549.
    Or email to slibookkeeper@frontier.com.
Or hand deliver to 46 Wesley Ave, Silver Lake during office hours.

Thank you
